a typical winter outfit

north east winters always keep me off guard because it'll be a sunny 50 degree sunday afternoon and you think 'yolo, i dont really need a jacket' but then it's monday and you can't stop that trembling starting deep inside you. i don't know why i always forget about the physical pain i get from the winter cold. anyways i hope this entry gives you that special warm fuzzy feeling to keep those winter winds at bay.

i don't know why, but i'm really against pants. they restrict my leg movement and i hate the heavy material enclosing my legs. so even if there's snow on the ground, i'm more likely to be doning a skirt made out of thick material like corduroy or a heavy cotton. and of course i chose a pleated skirt ... its just so cute

northeast falls offer great fashion opportunities like layering, scarves, muted color palates and sweaters. i enjoy wearing oversized, thick sweaters with everything, especially with a corduroy skirt and ankle lace-up boots. also i wear lacey bras under my big sweaters so it peaks through when my sweater slouches over my shoulder or just as a surprise :) here is a variety of sweaters featuring my favorite shapes and colors.

wearing (breaking) bad ass hats

one of the coolest accessories known to both males and females is hats. there are a million types of hats obviously. you got your wide-rimmed sun hats, spicy sombreros, the pointy ones that witches wear and the slouchy hipster beanies. the hats i'm lovingly referring to are the oh-so-classy fedoras. why are hats so amazing and cool and totally worth your time?!? they keep your head cool in the heat, shield your eyes from glaring rays and they make you look so styled. people are going to take one look at you and say "you are the coolest person i know" (favorite line from Battle Royale). here are some photos to illustrate my point:

What to wear to a dinner party

This isn't for a formal event with open bar and floor length gowns, but a small, intimate dinner party at a friend's place. This outfit will be romantic and elegant.

Long Skirts: Long floral skirts instantly add class to any outfit. 

A high slit makes the outfit more youthful and the print adds interest and personal style,

Fitted Top: To play down the long skirt, a fitted plain top is a nice compliment.

Strappy Black Heels: Black heels look great on every girl's feet and a lot of straps creates an exotic and outgoing touch.

What to wear on a boat

I know most of us don't normally frequent boats, but when it does happen you need to know what to wear. I enjoy a casual and cute outfit with nautical highlights (blue is nautical, right?).

Crop Tops: I love crop tops because it allows me to wear high waisted skirts and shorts. Also, tiny clothes are very sweet.

Collared crop tops (I don't know if you've noticed already but I love all things collared)

Jean Shorts: I love the casual and vintage feel of jean cut offs. They honestly match everything.

Add a printed clutch to offset the casual-feel of jean shorts.

White Tennis Shoes: I can't emphasize the versatility of white tennis shoes. I can usually wear them with most of my outfits. In terms of being on a boat, they're casual, cleanly structured and simple.

Colorful socks can add personal taste.

Sunglasses: I wouldn't be your style guru if I didn't recommend clothing that protects you. When you're on a boat, there will be so much sun because the light of the sun will reflect off the water. You should also apply sunblock, too.

What to wear to work

I don't think I'm the best guide for work wear, but I have two older sisters who often complain about the limitations and boredom of clothes for work. In this post, I want to illustrate color and fun ways to improve an outfit and add tasteful details. 

Collared Shirts: I love the structure of collared shirts. It makes a clean look. It prefer baggier collared shirts because it's more comfortable and adds malleability (like folding up your sleeves).

Necklaces: To combat the puritan cleanliness of a collared shirt, you need to add a decorative necklace with color and texture (metal, beading, straw, etc.). 

Printed Pieces: In an outfit filled with solids, one piece (either shirt, skirt, cardigan) should possess a print or texture to add contrast.

What to wear to a picnic

Is a cute guy taking you on a romantic picnic in Central Park? Or you alone and homeless? Whatever the case, I want to dedicate this entry to the specific moment of eating outside in a park. 

Dresses:I don't think girls have enough opportunities in daily life to wear dresses and that is a shame because it is the epitome of female fashion. For a picnic, the flowier the better and because there's no way I can lounge on the ground in a tight spandex dress. 

Fitted on top and flowy on the bottom. There is no better way to showcase the female body, especially on a cute picnic. In terms of color, I love white and light hues (like this pink). If you want to further emphasize the romance of this sweet picnic, I recommend lace details. 

Bags/Purses: I love tiny straw-thatched purses, so tiny that you can only fit your phone, wallet and maybe some chap stick. Less really means more. You don't want to be lugging a huge purse to a small picnic. Also, the straw reminds me of picnic baskets, perfect for the occasion.

Hats:  Being outside means being aware of your surroundings. Hats are important for protecting the delicate skin on your face from harmful UVA/UVB rays. Also, I think hats are incredibly adorable. 

Since this is a picnic, I vote for a straw or straw-colored hat. Beige is a neutral color and can match anything, too. 

Shoes: You can virtually wear any shoes you want. I prefer ballet flats though, because of their delicate shape and comfortable wear.
